Pleasant views, truly enjoyed amazing and great setting.
The king room didn't seem appealing on photos but it was nicely furnished. The free parking was on-site, exemplary service.

The hotel was fairly clean, reasonably spacious. The staff was amicable, and the service was exemplary. The restaurant was magnificent for dinner which was of exceptional quality and a great experience of fine dining here, I had freshly cooked dishes. Markree Castle is enchanting with its stunning architecture and beautiful grounds. Although the sausages at breakfast were disappointing, the overall experience was amazing, particularly the welcoming staff and the chance to explore the majestic surroundings. A special mention to Roisin, the charming Irish wolfhound!

The castle was very old style which was wonderful. Everything I expected it to be. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. It was easy to mix with the other guests if you wanted to. We loved the laid back style of the hotel we felt very relaxed. Thank you all very much Kay and John
It was a little chilly when we got there but it didn't take from our stay

My first view of the Castle was very impressive but on entering the Castle I thought it was a bit dowdy but after all it was a Castle and have to say the longer I spent there the more the place grew on me. My friends stayed in one of the apartments in the Courtyard and were very pleased with it. If going to the West again I would have no hesitation on staying there. Staff were Excellent and very helpful.

beautiful grounds with quick access to fine coastal gems
We thoroughly enjoyed wandering the lovely grounds filled with beautiful gardens and were thrilled that Sligo town and popular beach spots like Strandhill and Rosses Point were just around a 30-minute drive away, making it super easy for us to explore the area.

The staff
Beds were very uncomfortable; actually could feel the springs. Furnishings were old; rug was dirty.

Spooky but in a good way. Very old world & relaxed athmosphere. Staff very attentive & understanding of young & old. Food very good. A real treat. I have recommended to several people since my stay last weekend.
Loved the castle - I think it needs huge investment to maintain. Would love to see a working farm / gardens around it & possibly a good restaurant which compliments what is already there. Would hate to see it developed into a golf course / spa type affair. The beauty of this place is that it old world - the basics are there. Keep to them - cosy, warm welcoming fire, lovely rooms, good food, good staff
